EMQ- Mx of hypertension in pregnancy.

a. 24 hr urinary protein.
b. Period of observation for bld pressure.
c.Complete neurological exam.
d. Fetal ultrasound.
e. Immediate caesarian section.
f. Induction of labour.
g. IV anti hypertensives.
h. IV benzodiazepines.
i. Low dose aspirin.
j. Mg OH.
k. Oral antihypertensive.
l. Oral diuretic.
m. Recheck bld pressure in 7 days.


1. 85kg woman at 34wks c/o persistent headaches & "flashing lights". There is no hyper-reflexia & her BP is 150/100mmhg. Urinalysis is neg but she has finger edema. k

2. At 32wks a 22yr old primigravida is found to have a BP of 145/100.At first visit at 12wks the bp was 145/90. She has no proteinuria, but has oedema to her knees. b

3. At ante nataal visit at 38wks a 36yr old multiparous woman has a BP of 140/90.She has no proteinuria but has oedema to her knees. b
4. 24 yr old Nigerian woman has an unevenful first pregnancy to 30wks..She is admitted as an emergency with epigastric pain.During the first 2 hrs her BP rises from150/105 to 170/100. On dipstick she is found to have 2+ proteinuria. CTG normal. h

5. A pt in her third preg. presents to her GP at 12wks gestation. She was mildly hypertensive in both of her previous pregnancies. Her BP is 150/100. 2wks later at the hspital antenatal clinic her BP is 150/95. k
